PRICES: Our one bedroom cottages for two people range from $355.00 to $375.00 per
night. Our two bedroom cottages #2 for four people is $495.00 per night. Our
two bedroom cottage # 5 for four people is $450.00 per night. There is a $10.00
per night charge added to the nightly rate for each additional guest. The
maximum capacity for our one bedroom cottages is 3 people and for our two
bedroom is 6 people. At this time we do not offer a weekly or monthly rate.
TO SECURE A BOOKING: In order to secure your booking we require a
50% deposit. The deposit is payable by personal check, money order, Visa, or
MasterCard. Deposits paid by check must be received within 1 week of the
e-mailed confirmation to secure the reservation. Reservation without deposits
will forfeit the booking. The remainder of the payment is due 90 days prior to arrival
for all Holiday and Summer bookings and 60 days prior to your arrival for all other
bookings. In addition to the rental charges there is a $140.00 cleaning
charge for one bedroom cottages and $160.00 cleaning charge for two bedroom
cottages. This cleaning charge is to be paid directly to the Kauai Cleaning
services once on the island. We require a security deposit, which is due with
the remainder of the rental payment. (90 Day policy applies to: Easter / Spring Break,
Summer break June through August, Thanksgiving, Winter Break mid December through mid January)
SECURITY DEPOSIT: We require a security deposit for all cottages.
For bookings up to 10 days the security deposit is $500.00. For bookings longer
than 10 days and/or with more than 5 occupants we require a security deposit of
$1,000.00. For bookings longer than 20 days we require a security deposit of $2,000.00. Bookings of 3 or more Cottage require a Ground Protection
Deposit in the amount of $500.00, which is fully refundable providing the
property is left in the same condition as it was prior to check-in. At
all times indoor / outdoor furniture and structures are to be left in the same
areas and positions as prior to arrival. Kitchen equipment belongs to
each individual cottage and needs to remain in place. The Security
and/or Ground Protection Deposits are refundable within 2 weeks of check-out in
full, unless funds must be deducted to cover damages or various maintenance.
CLEANING SERVICES: The check out cleaning fee per cottage is
handled separate from the rental charges: $140.00 per one bedroom cottage,
$160.00 per two bedroom cottage.
Any stay longer than 7 nights will require an interim cleaning, at the cost of
$60.00 per one bedroom cottage and $80.00 per two bedroom cottage. The interim
cleanings will be arranged through Hale Makai Cottages. Upon request,
additional cleanings can be scheduled prior to arrival at an additional charge.
Check-outs requiring deep cleaning will be charged separately, delinquent
cleaning payments will accrue a $50.00 processing fee.
CANCELLATIONS: All reservation cancellations will require a written notice. A
cancellation fee of 10% of the total booking amount and a $35.00 processing fee will apply.
Holiday and Summer bookings require 90 day notice, for all other bookings the 60 day
cancellation notice will apply. If cancellations have not been submitted within
the 90 day grace period for all Holidays / Summer bookings or the 60 day grace
period for all other bookings, no refunds will be made. (90 Day policy applies to: Easter / Spring Break,
Summer break June through August, Thanksgiving, Winter Break mid December through mid January)
MINIMUM STAY: There is a 4 day minimum stay for all cottages,
exceptions can be made if booking calendar permits
CHECK IN / CHECK OUT: Check in time is 3:00pm, early check in
needs to be arranged prior to arrival to insure that the cottage will be ready
for you. Check out time is 10:00am, late check out some cases is available,
however must be discussed prior to check out and will result in late check out
fees. Non-permitted late check out will result in additional nightly rate
charge per cottage. Any cost arising out of a delinquent check-out, will be charged
to the Hale Makai guest.
ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS: Upon receipt of full payment, your Arrival
Instructions will be e-mailed to you. These instructions include directions from the
airport, information on how you will gain access to your cottage, a few simple requests
while using the property and check-out instructions. In the event that you do not receive
these instructions, please contact our office prior to your departure to the island.
STORAGE OF LUGGAGE: For those with late plane departures, the
cleaning staff might assist you in the storage of your luggage at their
digression and agreed upon fee paid in cash and in advance.
LAUNDRY FACILITIES:The Hale Makai laundry facilities are for the use
of the cleaning agency exclusively to insure smooth check-out and check-in procedures.
Unfortunately we can not grant access to these facilities to our guest.
TELEPHONE / INTERNET:HMC is located in an area with cellular telephone coverage.
Each cottage is set up with a land line and telephone handset. Long distance telephone calls can
be made directly through the service provider using personal calling or credit cards. Local telephone
service and broadband internet access is provided at no charge in each cottage, and the rental fee
for a cottage does not include any compensation for such service/access. Internet access is available
per data port in the cottage or per wireless network connection (wireless access requires a network
password provided in the arrival instructions). Should the telephone service and/or Internet access be
interrupted due to equipment failure or other technical problems, HMC will use reasonable efforts to
have these problems fixed as soon as practicable given the limited resources available on Kauai,
but HMC will not be liable to any guest for any lack of telephone service/Internet access.
Guests are not allowed to change or tamper with any communication or network device. Any loss
or damage caused by unauthorized tampering with any communication or network device may be
charged to the responsible person at HMC’s discretion.
ADDITIONAL FEES: All bookings are subject to Hawaii State Taxes of
General Excise Tax (GET), which is 4.166%, and Transient Accommodation Tax
(TAT) of 7.25%.
KEY POLICY: Keys will be obtained on site during check-in, please
refer to your Arrival Instructions. All keys must be returned by check-out in
order to avoid a re-keying fee of $50.00
NON SMOKING POLICY: Due to its pristine and natural settings, The
Hale Makai Cottages have a strictly enforced “Non Smoking Policy”. Guest will
be billed for additional cleaning fees for any breech in conduct.
NO PETS POLICY: As much as we know you will miss your pets,
there are absolutely NO PETS allowed on the property
NO SHOE / NO SAND POLICY: All guests are asked to rinse off all
sand prior to entering the cottages and to refrain from wearing shoes inside
the cottages. This will help to keep up the Aloha Spirit and keep the cottages
in good condition.
DISPUTES: All disputes arising out of or in connection with the
rental of Hale Makai Cottages shall be governed by Hawaii Law, the courts
located in the state of Hawaii have exclusive jurisdiction over any such
dispute.
GUEST ADVISORY: TRAVEL INSURANCE Hale Makai Cottages will take no
responsibility for any loss or damage caused by natural occurrences or
incidents that occur outside of the control of the Hale Makai Staff. These
various occurrences can include but are not limited to events such as
Hurricanes, Flooding, Bad Weather, Missed Flights, theft, etc. No refunds will
be made by reason of the above. We recommend travel insurance to protect
personal belongings and unforeseen circumstances that may necessitate a
cancellation.
WEDDINGS, FAMILY REUNIONS, LARGE GROUPS: All Weddings, Receptions,
Large Groups, and/or Special Events to be held at Hale Makai Cottages must get
prior approval from management at their discretion. The pricing and special
event contracts are tailored to the specific venue. Non-compliance is not
tolerated.
